Why "No 1 Spins Alone?"
Well, for many reasons. Every once in a while we hear horror stories about spinners who get burned, both figuratively and literally:
- A new poi spinner lights up before he's ready without a spotter. He tangles his poi doing a butterfly, gets scared... and scarred on his forearm.
- A staff spinner discovers a special fuel additive that claims to burn in vibrant colors. She adds it to her dip bucket, is disappointed by the barely perceptible color... and dismayed by the mineral-salt corrosion of her favorite staff.
- A well experienced poi spinner agrees to perform for a charity event. He performs his set, gets psyched by the applause... and gets socked with a fine for not having an open-fire permit the event organizers didn't realize was needed for the venue.
Don't Be That Guy
In almost every one of those stories, we believe the horror could have been averted if the spinner could have had someone else to talk to, share experience, or even just be there.

Contribute!
Do you know of any spinning events or resources that should be listed here? Tell us.
Do you have experience on any of the topics listed? Consider sharing your experience. Maybe just a paragraph or 2, but that paragraph might be the missing paragraph that helps a spinner figure out how to weave, or how to prevent an accident, or how to prepare for that first time lighting up...
Maybe you have a video that shows that experience. Or maybe you're the new person that is still looking forward with anticipation to that first light up, and would feel moire comfortable meeting and talking to others first.
No1 Spins Alone is made in the spirit of promoting community. Community makes us safe, safe to really learn this stuff and get to the point where we have fun, together.
So please, bear with our baby steps, and until the site is all here, send us whatever input you think can help make this a place you'd like to come back to. We all started with simple forward rolls, but someone or someone probably showed us how to do our first butterfly, even if that someone was on a video clip.
Help Us Grow
This site is for us - for all of us that decide to pick up this funny little skill-toy and decide first to learn, then to burn!
It's for us, by us, and up to us. So, come back and check on our progress and always feel free to send us any relevant content or to contact us about anything.
Learn to burn. Burn to learn.
